Russia’s MMK hopes to raise supplies to Iran soon
MOSCOW, Jan 19 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) hopes to raise exports of metals products to Iran soon after Western sanctions have been lifted from the country, a spokesman for the company told PRIME Tuesday.
“Iranian consumers of metal products have been natural partners of MMK for many years due to a good geographic location of the company and a vast array of good quality metal products made by MMK. This is why the company welcomes the lifting of sanctions from Iran and hopes to raise supplies to the country very soon,” the spokesman said.
About half of MMK’s exports go to markets of Middle East states, including Turkey, where the company owns a plant. Previously, MMK delivered about 1 million tonnes of metal products to Iran per year, but in 2013 exports of metal products to Iran plunged to 350,000 tonnes.
